Two new photographs added to story of Clachan’s Diamond Jubilee Beacon

Neil Weir has been good enough to send us two additional photographs to add to John Blake’s account of the quite wonderful community celebrations at the village of Clachan on the night of the Diamomd Jubilee Beacons, where Clachan was one of a chain of fires on the mainland and islands on the Argyll west coast.

The new material is at the foot of the article, with Neil Weir’s photographs added to those there already, from John Archer.

One photograph is of a spectacular Crown Cake, made by local couple Don and Paddy Alderson. The second is of the beacon fire alight on Dun Skeig, the iron age fort on the southern heights above the entrance to West Loch Tarbert and looking back down that great loch.

The story by John Blake, published on 8th June 2012, with these inclusions, is here: Clachan’s link in the Diamond Jubilee fire chain.
