Independent features Appin’s Ecopods

Today’s edition of The Independent has a double page spread  – In a Field of Their Own – covering luxury ‘campsites’ across Britain.

The Scottish version featured is  a set of three geodesic domes – called Ecopods – found at Lettershuna, near Appin in North Argyll. The pods have views to Castle Stalker, designer furniture, high end kitchens, libraries of digital entertainment (if that’s not a contradiction in terms) and a Japanese hot tub made of cedarwood.

They look awfully seductive. Two pods are in operation now with the third ready soon. Each has a wonderful pamoramic window.

They sit amongst birches and rhododendrons. They’re flooded with light. They’re not cramped  – 70 square metres. They’re available year round and the cost of a three night break starts at £495,

This has to be yet another good reason to explore inner space and stay in Scotland.

The Ecopod website is domesweetdome.
