Now we know more about the Heart of Argyll. It beats to the drum of dragon boat racing.

It fights inside molecules on water.

Its dogs don’t like meercats.

It comes out to play in huge numbers as soon as there’s madness on offer beside water.

Sometimes it like to be alone.

It loves An Awf’y Big Adventure with the Walking Theatre Company.

It can’t ignore that drum beat.

It finds watching a safe bet..

It can go big on a chat and some cool food.

But is the Heart of Argyll essentially crafty?

All of the above – but the heart of a place like this can be a quiet heart and today too there was tranquillity – right beside the crazy fun.
Congratulations to heART of Argyll – the partnership between Heart of Argyll Tourism Alliance, Artmap Argyll and Kilmartin House Museum for a superbly organised event this afternoon (29th July), which was every bit as popular as it deserved to be.

What a day! Mother nature treated us sooo well and so much fun to be had. Braw, coracles, duck races, lanterns and cullen skink(!)
The ‘natural wonders’ took home the dalriada dragon boat trophy.. and shortly we can announce the heart of argyll prize draw results
Great day!

A massive thanks to Carron Tobin and all who helped put this event on……we had a ball!. Lots to keep the whole family happy and having a bus service to the carpark (and the Cairnbaan hotel
) was fantastic.
This is what tourism in Argyll and the Isles is all about…showing off the very best of the place and having fun.
Mind you…somebody needs to sort that cheeky giant dog out!

Brilliant day. Thanks everyone. Argyll (and our bit of it) has so much to offer. Particular thanks to Scottish Canals (Joe and Fergus especially.)
All those who came along with the tents… Walking theatre… All the dragon boat crews… Loch Fyne Oysters, Food from Argyll, Barbreck, Berty Button…
I wonder what all the yachts thought when they came across the Parrots of the Cairnbaan…?

Fabulous day in this unique and beautiful setting. Danny Boyle would have been proud of spectacle but also of the community effort. Well done Heart and theArtofArgyll.

All Carron’s enthusiasm and hard work paid off wonderfully – it was fantastic to see so many people participating and spectating. The Heart of Argyll and collaborative working at it’s best plus the sun shone on us all day.

The race results will also soon be posted on our facebook page! A close run competition..!
The day proved to be a great success thanks to the real team spirit behind it. Huge thanks to everyone involved – from McGinty’s/Mackerral’s for the use of their yard for the park and ride, West Coast Motors and FCS for the buses, West Coast Loos for the loos(!), the council for the bins, the Red Cross for the tables and chairs – and then there is SNH, KHM and FCS for the marquees – and Doug, Gordon, Peter and Rory for the help erecting them, Scottish Canals for so much support in the planning and on the day – Mark and his team were first class and Fergus did a star turn putting out all the verge signs. The indivdual activity providers – Artmap, KHM, SNH, RNLI, Funky Chicken, Morag Duff, Peter Simson, Argyll Activities, Stramash, John McNulty, the Kite Club of Scotland. Food from Argyll, Penny Airlie, the Water Walkerz, Bertie Button, Scottish Beaver Trial, the Mid Argyll Rowing Club, Rory + Ochie, The Walking Theatre Company for Braw.. and Gable for the Dragonboat extravaganza. And the volunteer stewards – who really made it all come together – you know who you are!
Back again next year!
But can Captain Dobbers get it together?? The Parrots of the Cairnbaan have a year to polish off their paddling skills..
Cheers from HoATA!
