14th July 2012. Oban, The Big Strip, Take II – Strip the Willow, that is. Be there.
After last year’s manic success with its inaugural Big Strip – 4,000 people watching and participating in an endless dance of Strip the Willow in the streets of this west coast town – Oban is going for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records this time around.
The BID4Oban initiative is staging the event – and intends it to be an annual expression of collective hyperactivity, dehydration and dizziness.
The arena runs from Stevenson Street to Aird’s Crescent and the date with destiny is 14th July from 5.00pm – 8.00pm.
There will be other events alongside the Strip, creating a mini street party with local stalls, live music, mass gaelic choir, Oban pipe band, street performers and, possibly – Kevin Bridges getting the party off to a flying start with live comedy.
The Big Strip Take II will be an official attempt on the world record for a Strip the Willow dance. Be part of it. Details are here on the BID4OBAN website.
