The road traffic accident yesterday afternoon (20th June) around 15.30 on the A828 near the revamped Creggan Inn in north Argyll has proved fatal.
A 75-year-old woman driving a Peugeot 207 was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra driven by a 64 year old man.
Firefighters had to cut both drivers free from the wreckage and both were airlifted to hospital. The Astra driver’s wife, a passenger at the time, was taken by ambulance to Oban Hospital where she is being treated for a foot injury.
The woman died in Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital shortly after getting there and the man is in a critical condition.
Strathclyde Police are appeaing for witnesses to the accident to make contact with them.
