This photo says it all. They’ll take no hostages. In their final stage of training, these are the hardies who - this Saturday, 23rd June - will swim across the Corryvreckan to raise money for a hugely worthwhile cause – Houses for Heroes Scotland, the charity dedicated to tacking the issue of housing for veterans leaving the army.
Mind you, this photograph was taken before they headed off on a trial run across the mouth of West Loch Tarbert. We have no photographs of what state they were in when they finished.
Left to right are Peter Minshall, who is leading the initiative with William Minshall, Andy Peden and Colin MacFarlane. Angus Peden of Tarbert Academy) has been given the job of holding the Jolly Roger and does not appear to have any objections.
The ‘Cambridge’ element of the group have ‘allegedly’ done similar preparation – but there are no photographs to prove it.We’;re not holding our breath but, if they haven’t, Saturday will have a tale to tell.

The other ex-Royal Marine who is doing the Saturday swim, Jon Reah, has been acclimatising himself to the west coast in the south of France by sitting in a tub of ice each night. He too has declined to provide any evidence.
The second photograph above proves at least that group leader Minshall completed the West Loch Tarbert swim. He’s pictured here on the way back.
Donate here to the Houses for Heroes Scotland charity they are swimmingly supporting.

Are they mad? Hold on, don’t answer that – of course they are mad!! But for a great cause. Good luck chaps. Swim safely
