The implication of your piece is that change will only happen with Independence. The fact is that there will be change regardless of the result of the Referendum. The Unknown Unknowns apply across the board.Here are some unknowns which might be worth considering: land valuation rentals to replace income tax and council tax; build a commercial district in Tradeston in Glasgow which can be transformed into a horse racing track in the evenings so the punters’ money stays in the city.
As regards the lottery and the funds it has distributed for good causes , it is an indictment that a lottery is required to provide these funds for actual essential services in many cases which government should be providing instead of the postcode lottery which the Lottery good causes system unwittingly promotes

The division of assets and liabilities will involve a trade off whereby some issues will be of mutual interest and others more beneficial to one government than the other.Transitional arrangements will be required. Despite all the bluster and petulance of the Unionist mob, it will cost the RUK dear so they will negotiate once the referendum has been carried.
The various systems in Scotland and the RUK will gradually change as each government develops different policies required by it’s electorate. Eg, current SNP policy is to move to a system of citizens’ income which replaces a separate benefits system, and much more efficient to operate and requires less public sector staff to operate.
Presumably the RUK will not want to be lumbered with paying Scottish benefits so it is in it’s interests to cooperate that the separation of recipients is undertaken.
Don’t let the process of Independence sour your creative juices and the excitement of developing and considering new public service delivery. Independence is a wonderful opportunity to do things differently and better.
Embrace change don’t fear it!

Getting facts right is quite important before making this type of post Sharkman (I should know, I’ve made the same type of mistakes before) because it’s all too easy to look foolish when the facts emerge.
It may be a technicality, but Scotland has no offence known as arson. Events constituting arson in English Law might be dealt with as one or more of a variety of offences such as Wilful Fire-Raising, Culpable and Reckless Conduct, Vandalism or other offences depending on the circumstances of the event. The more serious offences (in particular Wilful Fire-raising and Culpable and Reckless Conduct) can incur a sentence of life imprisonment.
Perhaps an apology to Mr McCormick is in order?
