They may well have known each other.
They were so young – and so are almost all of those killed these days in Afghanistan – painfully young.
What happened to your father after he was captured, John?

  2. my dad was captured at st valerie un somme on the 8thjune 1940 he was a corporal in the 8th bat argyll and sutherland highlanders, maybe they knew each other. there is a small cemetery in st valerie un somme where some members of the 8th battelion who were killed in early june are buried. i hope to visit again someday to pay my respects they are worthy of rememberence, i am always deeply moved when i stand in amongst them they were so young, scotlands bravest. it was nice to read the story
