On the matter of likes and dislikes, I can confirm that there have been no problems with the software, nor any manipulation. Variations like those described by Lowry might be a cumulative effect of page caching by server and browser. In any event we’ll keep an eye on things.

Superb news! Well done!
- Time for council administration to think about where it’s going
Hi all, On moderation: we have an intermittent problem with spam filters. This is a third party provision which is not under our control, and which is used by WordPress installations all over the world. What tends to happen is that these fail, and then we have maybe 400 comments come onto the system in a five minute period. If your comment gets caught in this maelstrom it is also held for moderation and we get to it as fast as possible. The editorial policy on comments hasn’t changed nor will it. At some point I will post more on this, yours, Techroom

Ah Alexa.com. For any website out of the top 100K you really can’t say their listings are statistically accurate as their sample size isn’t big enough. Frankly, the plugin is loaded only by the internet geekery, and that description doesn’t seem to me to apply to the audience at ForArgyll.
For reference, and because it interested me, I did a like-for-like survey on Alexa.com of all the news sites in Argyll and came up with a ranking based on total worldwide internet traffic. This is the broadest brush measure.
You’ll see that ForArgyll.com has over twice as much traffic as OT, and the rest are struggling to get an eighth of the traffic:
ForArgyll – 0.00021%
Oban Times – 0.00010%
Argyllshire Advertiser – 0.000038%
Dunoon Observer – 0.000027%
Campbeltown Courier – 0.000018%
CowalCourier.com – 0.000016%
I think this says more about our online reach than any other stat from Alexa …
As for the Google Adplanner, it doesn’t show the detail you quote, which I therefore assume comes from Alexa.com, and therefore should be treated with some measure of caution. But thanks for that link, very useful too see how our stats are represented to potential advertisers.

Ah, well, the site is set up to ensure that any changes needed to be made are a snap to implement! And anyway its the weekend, and it gets dark early.
