Comment posted Heavy hand of Olympics commercialism falls on the shoulder of Tarbert Seafood Festival by Anne Baird.
Think Maginot line and find a way round it
How about a local version? Five interlocking curling stones, footballs, discus, girds and cleeks or even rainbow rings, leaping fish or baw faced weans. They could be arranged a wee bit differently.

Simon, There is little point in me putting the real news in here. You and “Newsie” will flock round it like seagulls round a chippie and in the end folk will be none the wiser. If they want the truth they’ll find it elsewhere easily enough. There are other more accurate blogs. - New SNP group leader unable to keep the sheep in the pen
Tim, if you want the ACTUAL news email me. The stuff on here is wild fantasy built around the odd fact. - New administration for Argyll and Bute Council
Neil, The party has designed its rules so your scenario is not possible. There can only be one SNP group and that will be the group abiding by party rules and standing orders. - New council administration appears not to be what it seemed
Neil, If you listen to one side of a story you’ve joined a faction. If you listen to both sides you’ll find the truth. - Proposed posts for proposed new council coalition administration

My goodness, Anne – you could legally bilk this country out of billions (and undercut local shops) by laundering your corporate profits through Luxembourg, but trying to give the Olympic organisation the runaround? That’ll be prison for life, if not execution!

This demonstrates just how stupid it was for the organizers of the games to accept sponsorship from multinational corporations. You don’t invite a herd of pigs to a buffet lunch, it is simply in their nature to shove not just their snouts, but their trotters as well, right into the trough.
The solution to corporate sponsorship coercion may be difficult to achieve, but well worth the effort. First, stop buying their stuff. Let them know, through your wallet, that their efforts to brainwash us are counter productive.
Second, if we need money to pay for such events (or anything else of national importance) in the future, we should TAKE the money from then by enforcing the tax regulations rather than beg for a handout. Any money earned in this country should be tax payed in this country, not in the Cayman Islands or Lichtenstein or wherever.
Maybe my comparison to the porcine species was a bit unfair – to pigs. Because on second thoughts they more resemble tapeworms and leeches – pointless and pernicious.

What you have put in words is what many people are thinking. If we can host such a large event to last a few weeks at such cost, why can we not build sustainable homes for all our people. I do mean homes and not houses.

The distinction between houses and homes needs to be kept in mind by all who deal with the world of ‘affordable housing’.
