Landslides generated by heavy rain have caused the blockage of both the east and west coast rail lines into Scotland.
No information is being issued yet on an ETA for restoration of services but it would be imprudent to count on travelling tomorrow.
While there are additional obstructions like flooding, the West Coast line has been closed by a landslide in Cumbria, at Tebay; while the east coast line has been hit by a landslide at Berwick-on-Tweed.
Journey time extensions and delays are inevitable.
