I’m gutted for Gordon, too. I’ve always found him very helpful and he’s done a lot in a quiet way. Alastair was a councillor previously and it’s good to have two island members again this time.

- Karl, Tiree’s covered by Ward 4 so your best bets are MJD and Alastair MacDougall from Mull. Know MJD spent quite a lot of time over on Tiree last couple of years hearing views.

Six of us have already sorted accommodation for this and I know there’s a lot of keen interest being expressed.

Thanks for the information – with our stupidly low download speed we’d never be able to download it.

I find Keith Brown’s response very disappointing. I do understand, being acquainted with the family of someone who was killed on the A82, that the Police must investigate the causes properly and this can take a great deal of time. The problem we face in Argyll and much of the Highlands is that, unlike much of the UK, we have very few alternative roads and detours are very lengthy and costly to individuals and businesses. The Scottish Gov’t should not be so dismissive of the economic and social interests of people in areas such as ours and should be taking this into consideration.
It does make me wonder whether that, if there’s a yes vote next year, we’ll be swapping Westminster for rule by the central belt?

There is no such thing as Mull Rally Club. Mull Car Club are the organising body but the rally manager is appointed by the Guardians of Mull Rally and it is he who appoints his team, many of whom are Mull Car Club members which has a membership nationwide and whose members, whether island-based or not regularly support other Clubs’ events.
That said, totally agree with Paul – the weather on Mull was at its best and so was the competition. Fantastic result for John, Petet and Eddie and serious commiserations to Calum and Iain.

I’m going to respond individually in writing – I have an extreme distrust of embedded cookies etc.
Has to be Scots pine or the Atlantic oak, or even possibly, the elm on Mull – but that’s fanaticizing – just used to remember all the elms that we had that died.
