Comment posted Philand suggests civic reception from Council for Lochgilphead Red Star by Arnie.
LOL, the SNP/Tory/Independent coalition not talking to each other already. A letter to the press, why not just ask his new boss for a favor. Councillor Philand’s obviously has eye on top job. Civic reception for Manchester City as the boot boy’s granny came from Argyll.
I’ll be back.

- Council investigation in to Communications Manager’s activities
Last Post really.
Investigation was also a cover to find who had leaked the story about Smith’s presentation but it being on web. Bullying, intimidation, accusations then the “fit-up” leaving the two staff no option but to resign. Loudon and Smith do have big bums.
Coalition in chaos – MacCuish not up to job, Semple ruthlessly ambitious, what about Philand?. Robb is the obvious choice on ability but not popular and he comes from Helensburgh and would fire Sneddon and Loudon.
That’s all folks!! - Council investigation in to Communications Manager’s activities
Mrs A update.
The internet monitoring of ARSN by the Council organised by Sneddon and done by Smith had Loudon’s approval but warned not to use council equipment it is widely believed. All went well and this gave Sneddon an advantage in trying to undermine ARSN. Smith let the cat out of the bag so became the patsy.
The cover-up is a £30,000 external investigation which looked for words like “spy”, “spying” and “covert surveillance” on Smith’s computer and interviewed a few staff (surprisingly nobody confessed) but no senior management. The Council was cleared with no case to answer. This information has now been removed from public view.
An agreement was reached between Loudon, McCuish, Semple and the opposition leaders to spring this on the Council on Thursday and nod it through without challenge. All questions were blocked by the Provost.
The Council has set aside money to pay for a successful appeal against dismissal and two cases of constructive dismissal.
MacCuish is worried about a rebellion and has called a secret emergency meeting next week. No secret as he doesn’t understand that management is working to get the old lot back in power to keep their jobs. Loudon and Sneddon are here to stay.
This is the last post as Mrs A getting a bit worried about her job in the Kremlin. - Looks like a council reshuffle
Iain
Roddie is a great laddie but hardly a match for Loudon and Sneddon. He is just the front man – others are running the show for the SNP. Even when he delivered the wrong mail he always had a wee story. Roddie running the council don’t you be daft. See you at the game – just leaving now. - Looks like a council reshuffle
There’s BAD news from kilmory castle. Integrity and Simon were right. Loudon has backed Sneddon and put daft laddie McCuish in his place. He won’t sack Loudon now but this will split the coalition. Mrs A says depression spreading amongst staff as news comes out. Staff think this lot are as spineless as the last. - Looks like a council reshuffle
Mrs A parting comment was the staff will organise a collection no matter what it cost.

A great idea from councillor Philand that an event that saw approx 200 people from mid argyll travel to watch Red Star in the final should be appreciated.A great use of tax payers money to show appreciation for all the hard work and time given up by all concerned.

Great stuff! Lets hope the Council acknowledge the efforts of Tarbert, Dunoon and Rothesay too then who won the cup this century meaning Red Star are taking the cup back to Argyll for the fourth time in 9 years. Well done all involved!

What about a reception for ALL the Argyll Coronation Cup champions – not a bad Diamond Jubilee year effort.

Thought for today.
Strange how often negative views lead posts and positive ones are quickly rubbished.
However, the majority thread is mostly on and upwards.
My congratulations to the team and Councilor lead effort to regognise success. An indication of a new era.

Why don’t they just have one big massive party to celebrate football in general?

What a great idea, there could be a combined civic reception for Red Star and Helensburgh Rugby Club who`s 1st and 2nd teams won their respective league with the 1st`s going on to win The Scottish Cup at Murrayfield with over a thousand locals traveling to the capital.Mon the Grizzlies!!!!!!

This was a fabulous achievement,
Overall, the picture is looking like a crying need for a civic reception to celebrate major sporting achievements in Argyll – and the recognition might be a
spur for more.

I think its fair to say Dougie Philand quite righly is looking after his own patch and has always been a great supporter of sport (which will follow on in his new role with the administration). I recall Oban Saints receiving a Civic Reception following their Premier Two Title win in 1994 but nothing for Campbeltown Boys who won the same league two years later then Campbeltown Pupils who won the 1st Division in 1999 and followed this up to win the Premier Division in 2000. This was an Argyll side winning the top Scottish Amateur League and it wasn’t recognised by the Council. Probably because our elected officials at the time didn’t think to bang their own drum and highlight the achievement. So well done to Dougie for suggesting this and more importantly well done to Lochgilphead Red Star on their triumph. We should all celebrate success at any level of sport and Argyll – the time and dedication alone is worth celebrating and often is over looked. Well done Red Star!

Point of fact: the report was that Mr Philand had emailed the incoming Provost – who deals with such matters – with an official request.

So, Why was the previous administration telling us that we would have to save £1.000.000′s of the next decade or so, council employees losing their jobs, no pay rises etc.? If this is not the case, then there must be plenty of funding for new roads, ferries etc! Forget the civic knees up, and fix the roads first. Same old thinking with the new council!

Well done to Lochgilphead Red Star, following in a Coronation Cup Final win of Tarbert in 08..Dunoon Ams 04 and Rothesay Brandanes 03.
A Scottish Amateur Football Cup competition which Oban Saints and Campbeltown and Dunoon Ams cannot play in as they are in the Premier divisions with Rothesay now playing in another West of Scotland league.
Civic reception is a publicity stunt for Dougie Philand in his new Deputy Provost role for the whole of Argyll and Bute.

Sounds a reasonable proposal provided money comes out of local common good type money. Needs to be looked at closely as there will doubless be lots of calls for similar marking of achievements.
Dont think for one minute its a publicity stunt.

A civic reception paid out of the common good fund is an excellent idea. Unfortunately you can be sure that numerous councillors and other “hangers on” will turn up for free food and drinks.
Personally I would invite only the team and their officials plus the provost of Argyll & Bute. Nobody else.
