Comment posted The eurozone crisis and the Independence referendum: time for proactive postponement? by Iain Hurrel.
Think you hit the nail on the head, not sure how many times you will have to hit it before that happens? SNP have done little to boost business in Argyll other than attach themself to issues that look positive, Its a one agenda party for Independence, think that needs put on the very back ring or turned off for a time.

It’s nothing other than an offer with what looks like enough escape causes to leave anytime without committing a single penny. Are we to understand and accept that the council have a meeting to discuss or as the usual case is be told what’s going to happen and after that meeting its reported to be sold?
This is nowhere near sold as yet, it suits the council to say it just before the summer break, the buyers will never commit until they have agreed planning permission and I’m guessing a few objects will be put forward.
Also if you pay 1.5M for a old building with a refurbishment estimate of over 5M you don’t spend the same or more on restoring the gardens and expect to be able to payback investors. Plus has to be passed by them first.
Stranger still if it’s stopped being marketed while negotiations are still ongoing? It’s only off the market usually when the missives are concluded?
Or does the council work to a new private process ?
- Council cuts teacher numbers – without consultation – at Sandbank Gaelic Medium Unit
Surely not the council acting without consultation? I think the timing of this is the cowardly face of the people that we voted to look after our interests doing this just as the schools close for summer. Underhanded concil tactics we’ve become used to seeing. Horrible people targeting the very young and the old.

I see no difference with how business is being done in Argyll. Councillors vote through anything they are given in return for extra payment jobs. Those with extra payments vote yes and those without vote no.
But we do anything about that do we?
- Argyll Bute Council, challenge, complaint, codes of conduct and the scheme of things
I don’t think that Oban is well represented within the council either. Sally Louden is in her last job and as others above say unemployable and I have no doubt that’s the case. Was her position actually a workable one? It seems Walsh pulls all the strings as it’s always been really. Oban has had a bad deal with him and Sally.
It’s hard leaving a legacy of the worst run council in Scotland not a good way to go.
