On a different topic one wonders if there could be a sinister issue with regard to the recent collapse of the RBS and the National Westminster’s banking systems. In fact, whilst the bank may anodynely refer to the 3 day collapse as ” a glitch ” one wonders if in fact the glitch is a deliberate fire to ease records or delay payments. Indeed, when in comes to criminality one only has to look at the Leveson Enquiry where news International have have lost crucial e.mails held on overseas servers, whilst previously undisclosed executive director i.phones have now been lost. Yes, it is not unreasonable to suspect the worst in rotten and corrupt corporate GB.

  It does seem that IFE is unable to see the lessons of history.

  Civil disorder that arises in polarised sectarian societes is never pleasant. One need only look at the Balkans to see how true that is.

  The history of Ireland is strewn with discontent and most sensible people can see why this was. The ethnic engineering of the early 1600′s, the repeated rebellions, the huge famines, the corn laws, the 1916 to 1920 war of independence, the creation of a protestant state for a protestant people, the B specials, social and employment discrimination, political gerrymandering.

  All of these things should lead reasonable observers to conclude that the history of Ireland was something that could repeat itself to re-runs of violence as it did circa 1970 to 2000.

  As I opined before suppression and apartheid rarely delivers settled communities.Democracy, fairness and respect does however deliver settled communities, and Thatcher should if nothing else never be forgotten for being wholly unable to deliver on that. Agression, beligerence and force was her way, and she did much to prolong the conflict.

  So IFE, try and get off your one sided high horse and look at the bigger picture as to why recent history in Ireland was as rotten as it was.

  A read of Gen Sir Frank Kitson’s books ” Gangs and Counter Gangs ” and ” Low Intensity Operations” together with a good book on Irish history might help. Mandela’s book the Long Walk to Freedom might help too.

  Alternatively, maybe you read Maggie Thatchers book the Downing Street Years and cannot move past her comment that you can’t trust the Irish. Some folk are just like that.

  Not quite sure how IFE concludes that the IRA was all because the minority couldn’t accept the democratic will of the majority.

  Ireland, and more recently Northern Ireland, is a classic example of how not to do it. A case study if ever there was one on how to create a divided and polarised society. And all on the doorstep of a country that repeatedly sings the tune that it is the world’s greatest democracy.

  Tragic, but Britain was a nation at the forefront of colonial aquisition, colonial goverance, and ultimately colonial supression as the colonies sought to remove the yolk of empire. India,Kenya, Cyprus, the list goes on.

  Suppression of a people or a culture rarely, if ever, works and post the 1920 creation of the artificial statelet of Northern Ireland, the UK as funding master could have taken steps to encourage co-operation and the reduction of sectarian discriminaton,but sadly didn’t.

  Much has been done over recent years to calm things down. Anti sectariian legislation is in place and ultimately it does seem that the constitutional future will be a political one from within NI and not a rerun of the holocaust of he last 30 years.

  A pity that the late Thatcher and her ilk did not understand that as they pursued their dirty war and vice versa.

  Presumably Cyprus is a Euroheist whilst in Blighty it isn’t. The UK government in Blighty would never take your money to prop up failed banks. It’s just not the done thing now, is it?
