Kilmartin House Museum is delighted to be welcoming Professor Bryony Coles to Argyll on 15th and 16th May 2012. Professor Coles, from the University of Exeter, will lead 2 talks about Beavers. – a subject close to home here.
The first talk, on 15th May will be at the site of the beaver lodge. During this evening talk Professor Coles will look at a present day beaver environment – with one to look at right there in illustration. This will identify and discuss evidence of beavers that survives in the archaeological record and beavers’ long term ecological contributions.
Meet Professor Coles at Barnluasgan car park at 6.00pm to walk to the Dubh Loch.
The following day, on 16th May, Professor Coles will be in Kilmartin House Museum at 7.00pm to present evidence on the presence of beavers in Britain, beaver environments, their exploitation by humans and the implications of the current beaver recolonisation of former European habitats.
