Comment posted RSPB Scotland ‘disappointed’ by Scottish Government consent to Shetland Viking wind farm by Scots Renewables.

Onshore wind wil be cheaper than new nuclear or new coal by 2016 or 2017 at the latest. Only gas will be cheaper.

  • A poll by the Shetland Times in December 2010 recorded 36% in favour, 33% opposed and 31% undecided. Hardly ‘70% against’ is it?

I’ve offered to revive it but had zero support.

    I’ll take that as a ‘no’ then . . . .

Well, doesn’t look like this site is coming back any time soon. I wonder if there is any appetite for a replacement?

What I have in mind is a site which:

    a) Reports news that primarily affects Argyll, and leaves national/international issues largely alone except where there is an Argyll context

    b) That adopts a neutral reporting style for most reports or, where there is a strongly slanted opinion piece, balances it with an opposing view at the same time or within days. Cybernattery or pro-unionist propaganda would therefore be confined to the comments section and kept out of the articles.

    c) That makes extensive use of guest posters, as I certainly do not have time to take on Newsie’s mantle

The primary thing that would decide me to go ahead with this would be a sufficient number of guest authors and editors to help me take the task on. I have all the necessary IT skills. The domain name is already registered.

If anyone is interested in this then please get in touch – you will be able to work out how to find me if you do not know already.

Great news from the Electoral Commission this morning.

A fair question, fair spending limits and the bonus that the ‘No’ campaign have been asked to spell out what a ‘No’ vote will mean for the country.

It looks as though we are finally on course for a fair and legally binding referendum that is ‘Made in Scotland’
