The result of the public ballot on proposals for the Union Terrace gardens in the heart of the ‘granite city’ of Aberdeen is known.
The choice was to save the historic and classic gardens or go for the ‘City Garden Project’ at £140 million.
By a majority of 45, 301 to 41,175 - or 52.4% to 47.6% – the burghers of Aberdeen have gone for the Macdonalds option – a ‘garden’ that looks like nothing more than a skateboard park in a video game.
It might have been designed by a roads engineer with Spaghetti Junction admiringly in mind.
If ever there was case of ‘be careful what you wish for’ – this WAS it.
