Comment posted Council Elections: The count by Spock.
Lowry is not the problem. I am also aware of various incidences of questionable behaviour by this candidate. Unless the SNP has moved away from the moral high ground that some contributors to this blog site seem to claim, then it should look more closely at its candidate selection criteria.

- SNP endgame: they ALL walked
They should all resign as Councillors to enable a fresh election. Then we can see how popular the SNP is as a prospective party for running or even being part of the A&B Council.
- Easdale Island emergency evacuation exercise identifies fixed link issue
The total annual running cost for the two vessels which serve Easdale , including the removal of waste was £194,263.28 for the year 2010/11. This works out at approximately £3,200 per resident, assuming a population of 60. How does this compare with the cost of maintaining the residents at Struan Lodge?
I would agree with Lowry that it represents a considerable drain on Council resources that should be urgently addressed, especially at a time when budgets are under pressure.
As for Eilean Eisdeal, I sincerely hope that the initiative by two Eilean Eisdeal directors to join the Residents Association is genuine and not a cynical ploy for some ulterior motive. After all, it was not that long ago that Eilean Eisdeal directors publicly declared that they did not recognise the Island Residents Association.
- Will VisitScotland EVER learn?
Perhaps VisitScotland were afraid that the local knowledge might include the whereabouts of the wind farms in Argyll.
- Scotland against Spin [wind turbines, that is] ask for petition signatures
Perhaps Newsroom can remind us of how Mackenzie allegedly tried to mislead ForArgyll in the not too distant past. Was it something to do with the number of court cases brought against him?
- Negotiations on Seafari Adventures’ proposed fuel facility at Ellenabeich
At one time, Seafari staff were more often seen refuelling the boats whilst moored at the Ellenabeich jetty than in the Sound. The same jetty is used by the passenger ferry to Easdale Island.
It is hoped that the consultees, particularly HSE, insist on sensible safety conditions if the planning application is successful.
