Council now arranging for ‘full investigation’ into ‘spying’ activities

For Argyll has had a reply to its inquiries from Argyll and Bute Council’s CEO, Mrs Sally Loudon, saying:

‘This matter was brought to my attention late yesterday afternoon.

‘Arrangements are being put in place for a full investigation.

‘The Council does not, nor would ever, advocate the use of covert accounts.’

    • Absolutely – it has to be done by a truly independent body, otherwise it will be the usual:

Council – Hi, we’ve got a bit of bother – we need an external investigation done to keep everyone happy.

Auditor – Right ho – tell me all about it.

Council – Well X happened and we followed all the correct procedures.

Auditor – That sounds fine – I’ll write you a letter to that effect.
