Comment posted Kilcreggan ferry still off for 3rd May by Jam.
When they first started they assured us, in person, that they had a second ferry on standby should anything go wrong……where is it?
This is a disgrace, how many times have they been off in the last month. They are totally unreliable.
Maybe you could ask the Transport MSP for a statement.

More like the Hokey Cokey to me….. - Labour MSP Rhoda Grant’s response to Struan Lodge decision
It is not the SNP’s policy to shut Care Homes just for the sake of it, on the contrary in other places throughout Scotland they have fought to keep them open even build new ones.
It is however the responsibility of any Council to ensure any venture is fiscally viable and if not respond appropriately.
When it comes to dealing with elderly residents things get very emotive, this is not a bad thing but should only serve to make sure every other viable option has been looked at. The present stay of execution shows the determination to do so but in the end hard decisions regarding the budgets have to be made……do you rob Peter to pay Paul?…….I agree with some of the above, this matter in the great scheme of things regarding Independence will hold little sway and the petty political scoring is ridiculous. - Third parties ensure Easdale’s Stone Skimming Championships goes ahead
….and has the MSP in question made a comment on this matter?…..silly question really. - Baillie writes to SPT and Clydelink on back up ferry for Gourock-Kilcreggan
As an OAP who lives on the Peninsula perhaps I can give a thought or two as to why the numbers might be down.
After hearing all the stories both in the media and from friends who use the ferry it took me 3months to even pluck up enough courage to go on this vessel, not to mention the fact of it’s unreliability.
Health & Safety was my job in Local Government, so it was with much interest that I took my first journey…..I was not impressed.
If one was visually impaired or had limited mobility it is a disaster waiting to happen, maybe that is why so many OAP’s have stopped using it. As for mother’s with babies in a pushchair…forget it, especially in rough weather….they could never carry a child down the steep steps.
Maybe we were spoiled with the sea bus but the difference in terms of comfort and the importance of feeling safe is like chalk and cheese.
SPT are treating us with no regard, I would almost go as far as suggesting they would quite like to get rid of the route altogether.
If the SNP led council and government let this happen they will loose much support in this area. - Council misuse of public money
It is important because it is taxpayers money…..monies that are needed elsewhere.

Time for the people of Rosneath to take the gloves off, waste no further time on the council, SPT or even Holyrood, and start leaning hard on their MEP.

I have to say Robert that our MSP Jackie Baillie has been very supportive and met with the transport minister yesterday.
Council candidates George Freeman, Susie Will and Fiona Howard have also vigorously campaigned.

There have been misdirection, misleading statements and outright lies told during this fiasco.
My questions
“Why did it take Clydelink so long to present the ‘back up’ vessel for certification?”
“Why was it not done immediately when the vessel arrived?”
“How long will it take to repair Island Princess?”
“Why are we getting no answers?”
This is not the transparent unimpeachable standard we expect from a public body and SPT should be asking these question on behalf of the public instead of fobbing them off and being petulant.

Re: Kilcreggan ferry.
Dear Sir
Please note that the Kilcreggan to Gourock is off again – should you wish to use it today.
This has now become a regular occurrence. No doubt the Strathclyde’s STP are keeping you up todate on the current situation on the new contact’s provision when they appointed a new provider on 1 April 2012.
But please do check out http://twitter.com/#!/kilcregganferry/ for the continuing tale of woe
Best wishes
Hamish Beaton

On the afternoon of the 3rd of May 2012 , I saw Clydelink Ltd second/reserve vessel , MV Cailin Oir (the orange and white one) crossing from Gourock to Kilcreggan shadowed by a fast RiB. I expected it back into Gourock but it stayed tied-up alongside the pier at Kilcreggan for most of the afternoon. This is turning into a right debacle with no detailed explanation to the travelling public and their website is not showing any news. People have told me of having to take a mini bus via the Erskine Bridge to Gourock Station. Good hard questions are needing to be asked and it is NOT just teething problems.
