West coast ferry operator, Caledonian MacBrayne, is warning of possible disruptions to its services on 3rd and 4th January 2012 due to forecast high winds.
CalMac is advising ferry travellers to check its website for the latest information and For Argyll will carry regular updates on our Today’s Travel Updates at the top of the home screen.
The passenger service between Gourock and Dunoon operated by CalMac’s sister company, Argyll Ferries, may also be affected. The latest information on that service is available at its website and again For Argyll will carry regjular updates as noted above.
A CalMac spokesman says: ‘Ferry customers may wish to consider travelling on 2nd January or delaying their journeys until 5th January, if their plans allow.
‘We are grateful for the patience and understanding of all our customers at this time and wish them a Happy New Year.’

Do not depend on the Met Office to give plenty warning of severe weather. Last Friday (30th December 2011) the Met Office had NO severe weather warnings in place for the next five days up to Tuesday 3rd January 2012. Yesterday the Met Office had a severe weather warning of gale force winds in England and Wales only for Tuesday 3rd January 2012. Finally The Met Office have come to their senses and issued a severe weather warning of wet and very windy weather over the bulk of the UK including Scotland.
This information has been available on magicseaweed.com since last Thursday 29th December 2011 on both pressure charts and wind charts.
This is not the first time that the Met Office have been slow to update their 5 day severe weather warning charts.
