Being festive, fun and frolicsome folk at ForArgyll we have decided to open our editorial doors to our readers. So come on in. Send us something you’d like to publish on our pages during the holiday period?
It can be journalistic, or fantastic, pure fiction or investigative. It might be visual, or even a video – we’re entirely open to whatever it is you want to publish on the site. And of course your submission must relate in some way to Argyll – but issues of general interest relate to Argyll as much as anywhere.
Obviously we won’t stop working and bringing news and comment to ForArgyll – but we’re going to have fun with every piece we publish in the Open House collection. Why? Because we know from the comments at the end of our posts, the private emails we’re sent everyday and the conversations we have had, that our readership is articulate, engaged, lively and above all has much of interest to say.
If this tickles your fancy and you’d enjoy being part of it, here are our rules of engagement:
- Your submission should be about or for Argyll.
- You use the name you have used when you comment on our stories and that’s the byline we’ll use, whether or not it is a pseudonym – because that’s how everybody knows you.
- If you’re a reader who has not commented on a story, you can join in too – but in your case you should use your real name, because no one yet knows or guesses anything about you through comments, so a pseudonym would be meaningless.
- The submission will be published under your byline and you will retain copyright on that submission. However, by submitting the material, you have granted ForArgyll permission to publish the material on the forargyll.com website on a worldwide, non-exclusive basis.
- We retain the right not to publish any submission but we undertake to publish as many of the submissions as we can (after all, space is not a problem).
- We retain the right to edit submissions for typos (yes, we can hear the hoot – we know we often fail to notice our own), factual inaccuracies and length – but the version we propose to publish will be emailed to contributors for approval before publication.
We are open to submissions right now.
Publication will occur during the twelve days of Christmas, ie. 25th December 2011 – 6th January 2012.
- Please email your material – including text and images – to: lynda@forargyll.com
- If you create video material, post it to You Tube and email us the link together with anything you may want to say about it – if you do.
You will find these details any time you want them – by clicking on the Open House box at the top of the left hand column on this page.
We’re really excited about what will come out of this and can’t wait to see it.

The first eagle, so to speak, has landed.
You’ll have to wait until Christmas Day to find out who it is.
