Good news for Fyne Ales and an opening for Oban Bay Brewery?

A deal was announced on Friday which will see supermarket chain, Morrisons, stock the products from a group of Scottish micro-breweries.

The beers will be going in to 60 Morrisons stores in Scotland.

Amongst the group involved in the deal is Argyll’s Fyne Ales, based at the head of Loch Fyne.

Williams Brothers from Alloa in Clackmannan  – the brewers producing Seven Giraffes, Birds & Bees and the evocative Midnight Sun, are acting as buyers for Morrisons for the initiative, supplying their own beers but also securing products from smaller breweries.

This is an excellent opportunity for smaller producers to get their beers into major supermarkets by acting to meet demand together.

Williams Brothers’ Sales Director, Richard McLelland, was the inspiration for the development.

Oban Bay Brewery – which also produces cask ale for Isle of Mull Brewing following their merging, looks like another good candidate for the group.
