Small fire at Ashfield School

Ashfield School in Mid Argyll has suffered a small fire in an electrical cupboard – which was contained and apparently caused no serious damage.

While repairs are effected, its pupils will go to Glassary School but we understand that parents do not expect this arrangement to last for long.

Ashfield, a well resourced school, was one of those on Argyll and Bute Council’s mega list of proposed school closures, later withdrawn in disarray.

We assume that the specific cause of the fire will be investigated and do not know whether or not maintenance issues are concerned.
