Four groups from Argyll have been successful in winning Awards for All funding from the Big Lottery Fund and have been congratulated on their success by Argyll and Bute’s constituency MSP, Michael Russell.
Ardentinny Community Trust has received a £10,000 grant from the Awards for All fund and will this towards the purchase of Glenfinart Walled Garden from the forestry commission. Their plan is to re-launch the run down premesis as a community garden with a leisure park and a working garden capable of producing a substantial volume of fresh organic produce
Southend Community Council has had a grant of £1,500 to install replacement goal installations for the village sports field. The improvements will increase use of the facility by local people.
Fasnacloich Gun Club, based in Appin, has been given a £5,000 Awards for All grant from SportScotland to improve their club premises, making them more
attractive and encouraging more people to try the sport. The grant will find the purchase of a Promatic Clay Pigeon Trap, generator, and upgrades to lavatories, wiring, plumbing and fire safety systems.
The 24th Argyll (Dunoon) Scout Troop has been awsarded £9,960 to renovate the kitchen in its hall for the benefit of the members and other user groups. This work will enable the scouts to undertake more activities and to offer the use of the hall to the wider community.
Mr Russell says: ‘I am delighted that these four groups have been successful in their applications and I look forward to seeing their respective projects develop.’
