MV Finlaggan just out of Birkenhead on way back into service

CalMac’s new Islay ferry, MV Finlaggan has had teething problems with her engines resolved and left Cammell Laird’s in Birkenhead in the Mersey half an hour ago.

As we write (15.30 7th July 2011)  she is heading west out of the river, gradually increasing speed (now slowed from over 11 knots to under 10 knots) and is on the north side of the river, leaving the Mersey ferry,  Royal Daffodil, to port.

Finlaggan’s ETA is midday tomorrow (8th July 2011) at Kennacraig.

Update 22.30 7th July 2011: Finlaggan is making good progress, is now over half way up the east side of the Isle of Man and has revised her ETA at Kennacraig tomorrow to 10.00am.
