The post of Manager for the Mid Argyll Community Pool (MACPool) is being offered for application by its Board. The recently appointed manager has been enticed away by a job in the USA.
Mid Argyll Swimming Pool is a community enterprise and a registered charity, run by a volunteer board and operated by a small, dedicated team. The 20m x 8.4m pool was built 15 years ago through the fundraising efforts of the local community and generous donations from local businesses and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
Thanks to recent significant fundraising and sponsorship deals, the pool is now financially stable and the board is looking for ways to further develop its role in the local community.
The Board is now seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to lead the team at the Pool and to help to develop the enterprise to the benefit of the local community.
The Role
- Management of the staff, the physical operation and the financial and service performance of the Pool
- Maximising use of Pool facilities through effective communication and service development in line with the needs of the local community
- Liaison with local clubs, schools and Argyll and Bute Council to ensure their specific customer service contract and performance requirements are fully met
- Development of the Pool team through strong leadership and appropriate training
- Substantial involvement in managing the relationship with the Pools stakeholders and sponsors
- Identification and progression of fundraising initiatives and grant applications with support from the Board
The Person
- An enthusiastic self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
- General management experience, ideally in the leisure industry
- The ability to form and sustain good business relationships
- Excellent customer service skills and pleasant manner
- A good level of general fitness and a passion for swimming for all ages and ability levels
- Experience of charity fundraising would be an asset, but is not essential
Salary and conditions
This will be in the region of £22 – 25,000 per annum dependent on experience.
The successful candidate will serve a three month probationary period
Closing date
30th June 2011
