The Sneddon ‘seminar’

A show of strength by councillors at Argyll and Bute Council? Not.

We understand that, at his re-education seminar for Councillors yesterday (17th February 2011) Executive Director for Education, Cleland Sneddon, simply rubbished the Scottish Rural Schools Network team’s evidenced analysis of the failures of his school closure proposals.

These disastrously unable documents had to be withdrawn from consultation on 5th January.

He was their architect.

But yesterday the donkeys just nodded.

It’s going to be a long year to the local authority elections in 2012 – but they will come.

  1. It would be very interesting to know what aspects of SRSN’s presentation Mr Sneddon has “rubbished”. Perhaps one of the councillors who attended could enlighten us?

I would very much doubt that Mr Sneddon has the upper hand in the argument. SRSN are hugely experienced in this arena (Mr Sneddon is not) and from what I have seen of SRSN’s work I can attest to its thoroughness and accuracy. So if there are no factual problems with SRSN’s viewpoint then that only allows Mr Sneddon to fall back on his favourite “differences of opinion” line. However, as the old adage goes: “the truth will out” but I for one will be more than a little annoyed if we have to again go through the whole rigmarole of the previous consultation exercise just to prove it.
