- New Chair for Tobermory RNLI – and it’s all in the family
Good guy, wise head, experienced and a character. Richard will do well!
- Ron Simon
Really sorry to hear about Ron. He kept getting ill and then bouncing back again, but this time it was not to be.
Ron once told me he got in to local politics because he cared about his neighbours…..a pretty good reason I think!
- Big news: Major Stramash presence for Fort William
There is little doubt that Stramash will expand its operations in Argyll, not because of any council subsidies or public handouts but because quite simply they are very good at what they do. Stramash has the potential to work across Scotland and perhaps beyond, while never forgetting its Made in Argyll roots
- Snow hazard warning for two Argyll roads
- Shock attempt to scupper planned council funding for Argyll and the Isles Tourism Cooperative
As one of the founders of Argyll and the Isles Tourism who set about getting the public sector and industry to work together I was delighted to see the input of Argyll and Bute Council and HIE in securing funding to take tourism forwards. The business case from AITC was well made and submitted to the council and HIE for proper scrutiny many months ago.
While it is right and proper that the council and HIE monitor their investment and check output and results, I cannot imagine a legitimate reason for anyone stopping the funding at the 12th hour.
Good luck to AITC, they are custodians of a very important sector.
