AnElephantCant hide his admiration
For a man who never seems to grow old
Willie Wood is the name
At the Commonwealth Games
Aged 72 he is bowling for Gold

He has a colourful selection of medals
Going way back to ‘74
We’ll all watch on the telly
As he heads off to Delhi
To lead Scotland to victory once more

He has 15 World Championship medals
In singles fours triples and pairs
In a team or alone
His talent has shone
And he remains the most gracious of players

So lets doff our hats to our champion
A man who brings credit to bowls
He rolls a good wood
As Willie Wood should
What a pity he can’t also score goals!
