A83 closed at Port Ann again

For a second day and in a second accident, the A83 closed earlier this afternoon and is still closed on both directions.

The cause is another accident at Port Ann.

The diversion in place is from Inveraray to Oban to Lochgilphead going westwards and the reverse for eastward journeys.

We understand that there has been a fatality and that scene of accident forensics require time on site, inevitably lengthening the road closure time.

The road was still closed at 23.00.

  1. Perhaps if the Trunk Road Authotity would ensure all road signs and warnings were
kept clean and thus be noticed and readable rather than covered in traffic grime, then maybe some accidents could be avoided.

  2. Perhaps if the diversions had been properly(if at all) signposted we wouldn’t have ended up with every man and his hire car with GPS going on the Ford to Cladich road.
On our way back to Lochgilphead, much later in the day,the diversion sign at Tyndrum was pointing towards Fort William!

    • For sandydog695: Couldn’t agree more. Probably for reasons of achieveable manpower allocations, the main points seem to be managed and often manned, with traffic being personally informed of the picture – but for the inventive who know the area, the secondary divert possibilities tend to lack instructions.
