Scotland Transerv has announced more roadworks to two stretches of the A83 trunk route – at Furnace and at Rest and be Thankful.
Furnace-Lochgilphead
The first set of works, a £65,000 programme to upgrade the A83 between Lochgilphead and Furnace, is to start on Wednesday 1st September 2010 and continue for 10 days.
For safety reasons these daytime works (07.30 – 18.00 hours, Mondays to Fridays) will be carried out with a single lane closure, traffic signals and convoy working.
Access will be maintained for emergency services throughout.
Rest and Be Thankful
The second set of works, one of the final stages of the current landslide remediation works on the A83 at Rest and be Thankful, involves the installation of a new culvert under the trunk road.
For safety reasons, given the nature of the hillside above the works, Scotland Transerv has said the operation must be carried out under a short road closure.
The A83 in this area will therefore be closed between 9.00pm and 6.00am on Wednesday 1st September and Thursday 2nd September 2010.
Emergency vehicles will have unrestricted access through the works at all times. Due to the nature of the works, however, local access will not be permitted.
Motorists should allow extra time for their journeys and pay attention to any advisory signs which will be in place throughout the works. For real time journey planning information visit the Traffic Scotland website.
