In what is described as ‘a sightly unusual medevac’ (medical evacuation) Mora Edith Macdonald, the Oban lifeboat, went to the aid of another lady in a hurry today.
A young lady from the Isle of Mull was taken on board the CalMac ferry, Isle of Mull, earlier today – in labour.
The ferry then – Murphy’s Law in the ascendant – suffered temporary mechanical problems and was unable to leave Craignure for Oban.
The pregnant mum was returned to shore from where the lifeboat, with two midwives aboard, whisked her to hospital in Oban.
Given that four babies have already been born aboard, this one just might have made the boat’s fifth.
This outcome means that the baby in quesiton will not be christened Cal(um) Mac or Mora Edith Mac but something completely different. We want to know.
