SEPA, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, earlier today announced seven Flood Watches. These are mostly in areas starved of water for some time – including Argyll rivers and Loch Lomond.
Tyndrum was doused by over one and a half inches of water in a rainstorm (1.6 inches or 40mm). This led to a flood alert in the area, which has been visibly parched.
To put this in perspective, the Tyndrum area has had roughly the same amount of water (1.4 inches or 36mm) during the entire month of June.
However, all is now well. SEPA says that the risk is past and that the Flood Watch is no longer in place, along with the six issued for other areas of Scotland.
