The Oban Concern for Palestine Group took to the streets on Saturday 5th June for a vigil and petition on behalf of the people of Gaza.
In little over an hour at The Clock Tower in Oban’s Station Square they collected more than 200 signatures. These included not just people from Oban but from other countries as well. One particularly memorable signature was provided by a lady who recently celebrated her 101st birthday.
The Petition called for an end to the blockade of Gaza which has now lasted for more than three years.
Additionally, following the breaches of International Law a few days earlier, which had led to the deaths of nine people involved in trying to get aid and vital supplies into Gaza, the petition also demanded an independent and international investigation into the incident.

Those involved in the mercy mission totalled almost 700 – from about 30 countries. One of them was an 89 year old survivor of the holocaust.
The Oban petition is now being forwarded to The Foreign Secretary.
