The 2010 Gigha Music Festival, from 2th02th June, headlines an amazing gig on 26th June, with the celebrated string band Shooglenifty and songs from the fabled Karen Matheson. And there’s a ceilidh afterwards with Kinlochard Ceilidh Band. Doors open at 7.30pm.
There’s a ceilidh and supper – free for kids – the night before (Friday 25th June) and Saturday daytime is given over to Gala Day, with a parade starting at 1.00pm. The new ferry leaving Tayinloan at 7.00pm on Friday will get everyone there for the ceilidh which gets going at 7.30pm and will have a bar and a raffle.
There will be music, of course (and an open mic session), and stalls, food and drink, horse and cart rides, fun and games for kids, a workshop in playing the bodhran (that should echo across the sound to Tayinloan) and a barbecue at the boathouse at 5.00pm.
The programme on Sunday 27th gives everyone time to recover from the gig – and from two successive nights ceilidhing. There;s a church service at the Road to the Isles at 11.00am – which will suit with penance to do. then at 1.00pm a pied piper of a different hue will lead people to a Pipers’ Picnic on the shore at 1.00pm. That too will have people on the shore at Tayinloan.
And for those sensible enough to make this a long weekend, there’s a music session on the Sunday night.
