Yesterday, when David Gilroy was detained and then charged, Lothian and Borders police would only say that a 47 year-old man had been charged in connection with the murder of Ms Pilley.
Mr Gilroy, Ms Pilley’s married former lover, has just made a private 5 minute appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and was charged with her murder – and with breach of the peace.
His application for bail was granted and he is to appear in the court again on Thursday 1st July.
