Head Teacher of Rothesay Primary School pays tribute to Robert McAlister

Wendy Brownlie, Head Teacher of Rothesay Primary School has just paid the saddest of tributes – to her nine year old pupil Robert McAlister, who died so tragically in a quad bike accident on his parents’ farm on Sunday (2nd May 2010).

She says: ‘Everyone associated with Rothesay Primary and the Joint Campus will be devastated to hear of this tragedy.

‘Robert was a popular boy who will be sadly missed by both pupils and staff.

He was a sporty lad and was always up for trying out new challenges. He recently took part in national shinty finals and earlier on Sunday had been sailing, which he’d only recently started but was very much enjoying.

‘Tragically, he was particularly passionate about his quad bike.

‘Educational psychologists and the local chaplain will be in school today to try to help the children come to terms with what has happened.

The thoughts of the entire school community are with Robert’s family and friends, and and we will be doing all we can to support them’.
