Biker dies on A83

(Updated 09.00 2nd June 2010) A crash between a motorbike and a car at Ardgartan at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon  (Sunday 30th May) has left the 51 year-old biker dead at the scene and a woman of 56, a passenger in the car concerned, taken by air ambulance to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.

The collision was at Ardgarten Visitor Centre, near the start of the rise of the A83 from Loch Long to Rest and Be Thankful.

The woman airlifted to hospital has since been released.

Update 09.00 2nd June 2010: Strathclyde Police have named the man who died as 51 year-old Peter Gait from Helensburgh.
