Bute Hustings held last night was a good, interesting and well chaired meeting. All the candidates made some good points for which most were given small applause, especially John Black. It has to be noted that both the consevative and Lib dem candidates recieved no applause, if that is any indication of the mood of the audience. For me Mike Mackenzie came out ahead of Alan Reid.
What did stand out and was commented on after the meeting and today while doing street work, is that Gary Mulvaney left the Hushings at 9 o’clock to get the last ferry off the Island.
While he may of had a good resaon to leave early, the general feeling was this showed a lack of respect and interest in the views of the people of Bute and will have done some damage to his campaign here.

Yes, Mark. I heard that too and at the cafe at Ettrick Bay this afternoon the story had taken legs that the Tory candidate had walked out of the debate. Oops!
