New regional manager for Argyll and Dunbarton PSYBT

The business start-up charity, the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) has appointed Sharita Padaruth as regional manager in Argyll and Dunbarton.

PSYBT is an important and worthwhile contributor to the economic development network and to the business of encouraging appropriate young people to take charge of their own destinies, offering support from the initial impetus to the development years beyond establishment.

In her new role, Sharita Padaruth will support young entrepreneurs from 18–25 years old who are looking to establish or grow their own businesses. She will:

  • provide advice on preparing business plans
  • guide young entrepreneurs through the start-up process
  • assist in securing funding for start-ups
  • offer ongoing support in growing the business in question.

Wit her responsibilities for Argyll and Dunbarton, Ms Padaruth will divide her time between the Business Gateway offices in Lochgilphead  and Clydebank.

As well as supporting young entrepreneurs, she will also support the dedicated PSYBT volunteer panel members and aftercare advisers through her territories of Argyll and Dunbarton.

Originally from Paisley where she lives today, Ms Padaruth has spent the last 15 months working as the Glasgow regional assistant manager for PSYBT. Prior to this she worked for the Department for Work and Pensions, supporting applicants through the benefit claim process.

Murdo MacLeod, PSYBT’s Argyll regional chairman, welcomed Sharita Padaruth to her new role: ‘Sharita is a welcome addition to the team. With her background and experience, I’m sure she’ll do a truly great job of encouraging and supporting young entrepreneurs across our region’.

PSYBT has, to date, supported over 11,500 individuals to start almost 10,000 businesses and provided over £34million in funding alongside a whole package of other assistance tailored to the needs of each individual.  Last year PSYBT invested £2million in 681 young people involved in 621 businesses.
