See this tomorrow – Sunday 25th April at 5.30pm on Channel 4.
Two sharp-eyed local history buffs on Argylls Isle of Mull, Bev Langford and Hylda Marsh, were supported by Scotland’s Rural Past in exploring the remains of a old settlement site.
While engaged in this investigation, they unearthed what seemed to them to be the ruins of a medieval chapel.
This, as we reported at the time, caused quite a stir in the parent organisation of Scotland’s Rural Past, the Royal Commission on the A cent and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS).
Channel 4′s Time Team, led by Tony Robinson, came to the island for three days to excavate these ruins, in the hills near Tobermory. They uncovered the remains of what may be a local saint involved in bringing Christianity to the Highlands.
More – or less – will be revealed in tomorrow’s programme – worth watching.
Scotland’s Rural Past exists to assist communities to collect, record, interpret and archive information on ancient settlements in their vicinity.
