ForArgyll.com has hopped!

You might have noticed some down time this evening on the ForArgyll.com website. We’re sorry for it, especially because folk have been trying to get onto the Tour of Mull story to continue the debate that has been raging there for a couple of days. The answer to the obvious question, is we moved server.

You may have noted around three weeks ago we migrated to a newer server with our old hosts? Well, this in turn meant we could finally back up the 500MB of material on that server, and then move it, which we have just accomplished.

We had intended for this process to be entirely transparent, but  the best laid plans are often thwarted, and in this case they were by a combination of an Enid Blyton novel,  a delicious curry and a very rapid propagation. We’d requested that forargyll.com be pointed at the new server at 3pm today. By 6.30pm the process was complete — it usually takes 24 hours at the least.

Not Forargyll.com.

No, while I was reading about School Chess Champions Frederick Trotteville and Eunice Tolling trading moves on the 64 black and white squares , our domain got a shimmy on and caught your internet director napping, well, reading. Only after a curry and five emails from a frantic editorial department did the obvious impinge and the necessaries done.

For the delay, I hope you will accept my apologies. For the new server, I invite you to let me know how lovely, shiny and generally spiffingly quick it is.
