Kevin Byrne from publishers, House of Lochar, has just been told by the printers of his forthcoming facsimile edition of the Book of Islay that they shipped the consignment to Colonsay today (12th March). He is therefore expecting it to arrive and be ready for despatch by Friday 19th March.
As soon as he has it, House of Lochar will start to send out the order forms to those who have formally expressed interest in the publication.
The form will include postal options within the UK, within Europe or Rest of the World and an option to just buy the book and have it wrapped and put to one side for collection later this summer.
This last option will suit people who can arrange for someone to pick it up in Colonsay, Oban or Islay.
Payment option will be by PayPal, which accepts credit cards in any currency and the cost will be converted automatically to GBP. PayPal is completely secure – no third-party sees your details, not even House of Lochar.
Kevin Byrne points out that postal rates will rise on April 1st. He says that House of Lochar is ‘about as organised as possible’ and will be trying to fulfil orders within 48 hours and says he is ‘sure we will stay on top of the job’.
Every one who had expressed an interest in buying the Book, will receive an order form by 26th March at the latest – and because of the rise in postal rates on 1st April (and the staggering weight of the Book) it would make sense to turn around the order form as soon as it arrives.
