Only at Tarbert Film Club? Joking apart, Tarbert Film Club’s next film is The Hangover, an award winning American comedy.
Geoff Johnson for the Club quotes the Guardian film critic’s summary: ‘On paper, this film promises precisely zero: a Vegas fratboy comedy with a stilted cameo from Mike Tyson.
‘Well, it turns out to be every bit as crass, offensive and incorrect as you’d expect, but it’s also – gulp! – really very funny an awful lot of the time, as well as bizarrely gripping, like a new sequel to Joe Orton’s Saw.
We won’t spoil the fun but expect a tiger where you’d least expect to find it and to leave the showing with sore sides from laughing at the impossibility of it all.
The Hangover will be screened at 8.00pm on Saturday 20th March in the Templar Arts & Leisure Centre in Tarbert. Full details can be found on the Tarbert Film Club website.
And for the Diary – the following film to be shown on 17th April isĀ An Education – advance details here – described by The Times film critic as ‘a wonderful, life-affirming picture that deserves all the prizes it will undoubtedly win’.
