Oban Lifeboat launch as NHS helicopter unable to land on Mull

NHS helicopter rescue 177 was summoned to Mull last night but weather conditions were not suitable for it to land so it was tasked to Islay.

The Oban Lifeboat, Mora Edith Macdonald was then launched at 20.26 to help in the transfer of a seriously ill female patient from Mull to the mainland.

The lifeboat arrived at Craignure at 20’58 and left again in around three quarters of an hour later at 21.41 with the patient safely aboard.

The patient was landed in Oban at 22.13 and the lifeboat was refuelled and ready again for service at  22.21.
