There are so many mysteries in this story.
As we reported at the time, 51 year-old Niloofar Polvandeh, an artist of Middle Eastern origin from Cologne in Germany, arrived in Glasgow on 4th January and caught a bus to Tarbert on 6th January. She booked in to the Stonefield Castle hotel, a few miles north of the famous yacht haven village on the east coast of Loch Fyne.
It has emerged that Ms Polvandeh was seen the following day at Southend on the southern tip of the Mull of Kintyre.
She did not check out of the hotel and, reported missing, searches of the hotel its grounds and the surrounding area, including Loch Fyne’s shoreside below, using the combined efforts of all of the rescue services, found nothing.
Then, on 31st January, a walker found a badly decomposed body on the east side of the Mull of Kintyre, on the beach near New Orleans.
Strathclyde Police are now waiting for tests to show whether or not the body is that of Polvandeh.
