Free Kintyre Music Workshops

Rebecca Brown

Fiddle, guitar and percussion are the three instruments at the heart of a series of free music workshops in Campbeltown provided by Kintyre Music & Arts Tuition Group, The Kintyre Cultural Forum and the Mull of Kintyre Music festival.

The three partners organisation have announced their intention to continue their fiddle & guitar workshops in 2010. This series kicks off what promises to be an exciting year.

  • Rebecca Brown (top) is the resident fiddle tutor.
  • She will be joined by Sam Hales (below left) who tutored two guitar workshops at the last workshop day in December.
  • Jamie Kennedy (below right), will tutor a beginners percussion workshop.

These workshops will repeated on four separate dates:

  • 5th February
  • 19th February
  • 5th March
  • 19th March.

On each date, Campbeltown’s White Hart Hotel is the venue and the schedule of workshops is identical. Both fiddle and guitar workshops will start with a beginners workshop at 4.15pm, intermediate level at 5.15pm and the advanced workshop at 6.15pm. The percussion workshop will start at 4.15pm.

There’s also a night time music session at the hotel each night, starting at 9.30pm and featuring the workshop tutors, students and local musicians.

The organisers also hope to hold a concert at the end of march to co-incide with the last workshop.
