As they were back in the 1980s above,  the now first team players Aiden McGeady and Madjid Bougherra, respectively of Celtic of Rangers are talking on the record exclusively to BBC ALBA’s Club TV.

The monthly transmission of Club TV sees Celtic FC and Rangers FC come together for a unique magazine style football programme.

The McGeady / Bougherra rogramme will be broadcast tomorrow night (Wednesday 24th February) at 10.30pm and will also provide exclusive interviews with the respective club managers, Tony Mowbray and Walter Smith – along with input from key players from the clubs’ first teams and youth development.

Club TV is presented by former club players Tom Boyd and Arthur Numan, along with Gaelic sports anchor Calum Macaulay.

In tomorrow night’s programme:

  • Walter Smith picks the five players who have most impressed him throughout his career from his time as coach at Dundee United, to manager of Rangers, Everton and Scotland.
  • Tony Mowbray discusses how he came to be at Celtic as a player in the early nineties as well as discussing the players he most respected during his playing career at the club.

Speaking to Aiden McGeady, Club TV provides an insight into the first team player’s thoughts on the influx of new players. McGeady believes the new on-loan signing, Robbie Keane, is at the club to do more than just score goals, saying: ‘Keane is a clever link-up player and when you are on the ball, you know that Keane can make intelligent runs.’

From Rangers, Club TV hears from Madjid Bougherra who is back at the heart of the Rangers defence after helping Algeria reach the semi finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Madjid talks about his hopes for success with Rangers this season, the prospect of facing England in this summer’s World Cup Finals and why he is loving life in Glasgow.

The programme will also feature interviews with key youth players from both clubs, as McGeady and Bougherra – proof above – once were.

Josh Thompson (18) reveals his ambitions to become a first choice defender in the Celtic first team and is not perturbed by playing alongside older and differing players. Rangers only Gaelic speaking player, defender Stuart Urquhart (14) talks about his move from Hamilton Academical last summer, his hopes for the future, and the role models he finds himself surrounded by at Murray Park.

Highlights will be provided from the SPL and Scottish Cup over the past month along with some U19 league action as well as the SFA Youth Cup quarter final nine goal thriller at Tannadice.

BBC ALBA is currently available on Digital Satellite, on Sky 168, Freesat 110 and live on BBC iPlayer. Ten hours of content per week is also available to view on demand via the BBC PC iPlayer and the BBC iPlayer on Cable.
